Public Notice - Brownhelm and Henrietta Townships

4/28/26 -- The Office of Lorain County Engineer Ken Carney is currently in the process of collecting survey data and completing environmental studies to facilitate the design of the final construction documents associated with the resurfacing of Vermilion Road between State Route 113 and approximately one half mile south of North Ridge Road in Brownhelm and Henrietta Townships. Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2027 and traffic will be maintained during the work. Additional right of way will not be required to construct the project. The estimated cost of the improvement is $1,209,730 of which 80% is being funded by a grant from the federal highway administration through the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency. Public Notice - Elyria and Amherst Townships

Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2027 and traffic will be maintained during the work. Additional right of way will not be required to construct the project. The estimated cost of the improvement is $1,334,550 of which 80% is being funded by a grant from the federal highway administration through the County Engineer Association of Ohio. 4/28/26 -- The Office of Lorain County Engineer Ken Carney is currently in the process of collecting survey data and completing environmental studies to facilitate the design of the final construction documents associated with the replacement and upgrade of the traffic signal at North Ridge and Baumhart Roads in Brownhelm Township and the City of Vermilion. Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2028 and traffic will be maintained during the work. Additional right of way will not be required to construct the project. The estimated cost of the improvement is $355,228 of which 80% is being funded through a grant from the federal highway administration through the County Engineer�s Association of Ohio. The balance will be provided by the Lorain County Engineer Permissive Account. Road Closure - Grafton Township

6/4/25 -- Lorain County Engineer, Ken Carney, announces the closure of Island Road for bridge No. 0158 replacement. The road will be closed between Grafton Eastern and Rt 303 for 45 days, starting Monday, June 16 at 7:00 am and scheduled to reopen Thursday, July 30 at 5:00pm, weather permitting. The road is marked with advance closure notifications.
